Are you a workaholic or do you know one? Some people just love their jobs - and that's the best type of job to have, one where you enjoy going to work and getting to do what you love. Better yet, getting paid for it. But many times, workaholics die before their time, in part due to stress levels and poor diet.
Workaholics tend to eat on the run, grabbing and cramming in their three meals for the day. Some may only get one meal due to their brisk schedule. Stress also becomes an issue, because there never seems to be enough time in the day for a devoted workaholic.
If this sounds familiar - stop and smell the roses so that you'll be here for many years to come, doing what you enjoy doing best. Here are a few tips specifically for workaholics:
- Never work through lunch or breaks. You need this time to refocus. By putting a tiny bit of space between you and your job, you'll get more accomplished.
- Don't forget the family. Getting home by dinner time might be a challenge, but give it your best effort. Your job stands waiting for someone else the day you retire, and even famous CEO's are soon forgotten by a business. Your family will mourn your passing until their own.
- Bring along a piece of fresh fruit for snack times - but don't make it your lunch.
- Close your office door during breaks and lunch time when possible and put the phone on send. Don't you dare answer that email either! Better yet - go out for lunch.
