Tips & Weight Loss Advice on Losing Weight

Become a Fat Watcher: Foods containing a lot of fat can end up adding pounds to our shape and gunk to our arteries. The bad thing about foods containing fat is that they taste so dog-gone good!

Foods that are high in fat are generally high in calories, thus the weight gain connection.

Years ago, there was a diet circling the Diet Village that centered around no more than 30 grams of fat per day.  Although fat in the diet can be a bad thing, not enough fat in the diet can also be a bad thing causing everything from hair loss to lack-luster nails. Who wants to look like Uncle Fester? So get ample fat in your diet - but do such in moderation!

Become a Label Reader: An effective tool for weight loss is as easy as reading the labels on the packages of foods that you eat.  Manufacturers are required to provide nutritional information to consumers listing not only the calorie content, but serving size, sodium, vitamins and minerals in the serving sizes.

One drawback to labels is that many times foods are far from nutritious and even though there is a suggested serving size, the dieter should key their weight loss plan off of the official food groups (protein, grain, dairy, vegetable & fruit) and servings recommended by the Official Food Pyramid.  Getting our foods from these building blocks helps us individually construct our own healthy pyramid.

While the dieter may eat one cupcake for a serving size, it rather difficult to truly define where this food fits in the Food Pyramid.  For a better Food Pyramid, it would do us well if the USDA required packages to list which building block the serving is referring to.

Become an Active Ace: Want to speed up your weight loss results?  Becoming an Active Ace can do just that.  When combined with a healthy, controlled diet, activity boosts weight loss results - at times, blowing them out of the Diet Ball Park!

Activity need not be gut-busting, and may be as simple as enjoying a nice walk a few times a week, for about twenty minutes on each walk.  Other rewards to Active Aces include stronger lungs, stronger heart, stronger bones.

Own a Positive Mind Set: When I was a young girl and used to complain to my mother, "I can't!  I just can't do it!"  She would always tell me, "Can't never did anything."

Well, there is a lot of truth in that - particularly when weight loss is involved.  When an individual owns and operates a positive mind set, they can not only accomplish most any thing - they'll also have more fun when completing the task - whether it's a fun task, or not.

How to Lose Weight - Never Surrender to Fat: There may be times while you are dieting that you are sick and tired of it all - that you just want to end your crazy diet.  You yearn to once again enjoy the foods of yesteryear - just as the Children of Israel cried out for the leek pots in the desert - even though they had been under Pharaoh's bondage.

In another sense, being fat is a type of bondage - one that you should never surrender to!  Keep with your diet plan until you reach your weight loss goals.

Backup Diet Rescue Plan: We all watched on in sadness and disbelief when we saw the devastation of Hurricane Katrina when the backup plan didn't work. Wait; there wasn't a backup plan, was there? The result was total devastation.

When dieting, it is imperative that the dieter devises a doable backup plan before setting out on a diet.  Planning ahead prepares the dieter should something unexpected jump onto the Diet Path along the way.  If that happens, the dieter knows just want to do.

Emotional Support for Weight Loss: Dieting can be an emotional roller coaster - not only for the dieter but for everyone who must live and work with the dieter. With that in mind, many times, it's a very good thing that the dieter shares their weight loss goals with those around them.

When dieting, we should take all the help that we can get. Support is precious and can translate to anything from a co-worker bringing in a bowl of fresh fruit rather than a Birthday cake to celebrate your special day TO a spouse who prepares delicious, low calorie, low fat meals for his honey's diet.

How to Lose Weight - Ready Meals for Weight Loss: Dieting can be more interesting by incorporating a few ready-meals that can be found in local markets on the canned and frozen foods section.

From healthy pizza to lean Mexican meals, the dieter has an array of cuisine to choose from.  A Diet Perk is that the labels list all the nutritional information which makes it easy for the dieter to calculate how the meal will fit into their diet plan.

Avid Reader for Weight Loss: Need a little support while dieting?  What about finding out how many calories a food contains?  Want to hear an inspiring weight loss success story?  What about visiting with other individuals who are dieting?

For the avid reader, there is much to be found in the form of Weight Loss Assistance - from the local library to the Internet. Keeping an inspiring website book-marked, chatting with individuals who are going through the same experience, and owning a calorie book are all great tools in assisting the dieter in meeting their weight loss and fitness goals.

How to Lose Weight - Walking to Thin: Don't know how to lose weight?  Put a sock on each tootsie and grab those comfortable walking shoes because daddy's gonna lose a few pounds by runnin' the rubber off his sneakers!

Walking to thinness isn't anything new on the Diet Horizon, but it's such a simple element of weight loss that we often forget about doing this easy thing.  Walking delivers big time, not only in the area of weight loss over time, but also in health benefits - giving strength to bones, muscles and heart.

Finding Special Interests: Finding specials interests in life is as essential to weight loss as the diet menus.  The more content we humans are, the less concerned we are about our troubles.  In fact, getting absorbed in a hobby or reading a book - even doing a kind thing for someone else sweeps our minds clean.

Individuals who absorb themselves in the things that they love and like are much more likely to succeed with weight loss.  A happy diet is a productive diet.

Diet for Weight Loss: Whenever you experience something very special in life, what's the first thing that you want to do?  If you are like most individuals, you want to share your experience with someone you care about.  Sharing is even better when you share your experience with someone who shares a similar interest with you.

This makes a great reason to secure a Diet Confident that you can share with during Diet Time.  Swap diet tips, diet recipes, experiences - even the times that weren't going so hot.  Everyone needs a shoulder to cry on now and then while dieting, and a Diet Confident offers room for total understanding.

Friends & Family for Weight Loss Support: When dieting, nothing feels better than to have your friends and family rooting for you every step of the way. Spouses may provide healthy, low calorie meals and treats - parents of adults may offer words of encouragement, and friends may join you for activity time.

Gaining the interest and support of your friends and family while dieting can be one of the best safety nets for Diet Survival. With so much support and understanding, it makes losing weight a heck of a lot easier.
