Angel Biscuits - These yeasty biscuits are as light as angels! You will need the following ingredients for our Angel Biscuit Recipe:
-
2 Cups of Flour, sifted
-
1 Teaspoon of Active Dry Yeast + 1/4 Cup of WARM Water
-
1 Tablespoon of Pure Cane
Sugar (not sugar substitute)
-
1 heaping Tablespoon of Baking Powder + 1/2 Teaspoon of Baking Soda
-
1/2 Teaspoon of Salt
-
1 heaping Tablespoon of Butter or Margarine
-
3/4 Cup of Skimmed Milk + 1 Teaspoon of Vinegar (or 3/4 Cup of Low fat Buttermilk)
Sprinkle yeast in the warm (not hot) water; sprinkle on 1/2 teaspoon of sugar and let mixture stand for about five minutes. Expect a small foamy appearance to grace the top.
Combine the sifted flour, the remaining sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Cut in the margarine until dough resembles coarse meal. Add the milk and yeast mixture, then stir
until combined, taking care not to over-mix.
Cover and allow to rest in a warm spot for about 20 minutes (dough will not double in size).
You're ready to roll and cut out your Angel Biscuits. Bake in a preheated 425 degree oven until golden brown. Each biscuit contains about 90 calories. Our Angel Biscuit recipe makes 1 dozen biscuits or 12 servings.
