And oil doesn't have to serve as the primary king ingredient whenever a recipe demands such. Meats will generally cook very well on the stove top with a bit of water added at the beginning of the cooking phase. Cook on low heat and as the water evaporates, a glaze will form on the meat. Very tasty with no added fat.
When baking, rather than adding fat to the recipe in the form of oil or shortening, experiment with mashed and dried fruits, as well as applesauce and light sour cream.
Additives - The old food bill can be slashed by slashing marinades, sauces and special dipping concoctions from our shopping list. Opt for creating homemade, healthier versions. In addition, many of the marinades at the local market can be substituted with many varieties of light salad dressing. We absolutely love the balsamic vinegar based salad dressings which work exceptionally well a marinades. We can save money and
obtain multiples uses for a single product.
