Managing a Healthy Daily Diet on a Limited Budget
ACTIVITIES - MONEY SAVING TIPS
Activities - One would naturally assume that when funds are tight that weight loss would come easy. Less money tends to equal less money for food.
On the other hand, when we can't afford the activities we once enjoyed, human-nature has a way of transferring our enjoyment to different areas. In turn, we have to be careful that we don't substitute those prior activities with food.
Being short on money also equals spending more time on the home-front. Rather than enjoying a game of mini-golf, we enjoy a bowl of hot buttered popcorn while we watch tv or play a game. We may spend more time talking on the photo, sharing our stressful situation with others facing similar hurdles, or who lend a sympathetic ear. And of course, inactivity can contribute to weight gain when our calories exceed our body's energy requirements. In addition, an inactive body
isn't a healthy body.
What to do, what to do? It's not just the expense of getting into an attraction, it's the cost of fuel in getting there, too! Here are a few suggestions that we hope will help you get in your healthy dose of daily activity:
Horseshoes - After the basic cost of the horseshoes, you'll enjoy a lot of activity for zero bucks.
Swimming Pool or Shower Bath - A small swimming pool makes the most economical sense as the cost of water is involved. Swimming is not only fun, it's refreshing amid the hotter months.
Moonlight Stroll - Make sure you walk in a safe area and that you walk with someone. A small investment in stick-on reflectors is a wise choice.
Picnicking - Create a healthy basket of goodies and head out to the local park. Be sure and take a kite along.
Mall Lurker - When I was a little girl, I remember my mom going window shopping a lot. We didn't have much money to buy food, much less anything else. Our car was generally an old heap which we always named 'Old Betsy', and my clothes were handmade from inexpensive fabric. With this said, there is nothing set
in stone that says we must buy something when we go shopping. The activity is good for both the body and mind. Too often in 'yesterday's fading society' people grabbed and purchased whatever they wanted. Pausing and taking time before making a purchase makes good sense as well as good cents.
