Sugarplum Cookies - Holiday Dessert Recipes for Dieters

Are sugarplums dancing in your head but you keep batting them away because they just may contain too much fat and too many calories? If so, there is a way to have your sugarplums and eat them too with our delicious Sugarplum Cookie recipe. Be sure and set some out for Santa.

 

You will need the following ingredients for this diet-wise recipe:

1/4 cup of margarine, softened

3 ounces of LIGHT cream cheese, softened

1 1/2 cup of all-purpose flour

1 cup of Splenda

1 egg (or use EggBeaters to save calories and cholesterol)

1/2 teaspoon of Baking Powder

1/2 teaspoon of Vanilla Extract

1/4 teaspoon of ground nutmeg

 

Combine cream cheese and margarine. Add Splenda, egg, baking powder, nutmeg and vanilla. Stir in flour. Chill for about 1 hour in fridge. Remove and roll out. Cut into desired shapes. Bake about 1 inch apart on a non-stick cookie sheet in a preheated 375-degree oven for about 6-8 minutes, or until golden. Sprinkle with candy sprinkles if desired, or a bit of powdered sugar.
