Healthy Tips for Mushrooms
Mushrooms happen to one of my favorite things on earth. And there are so many different varieties to choose from - so many flavors!
Healthy Tip #1 - New-fangled hamburger recipe out of mushrooms? Yeah, boy!
Try roasting two giant portabellas on the stove top using cooking spray. These will be used as the buns for a lower calorie, healthier option. 
From there you can either fit a meat patty between the mushrooms, or create a veggie burger by using seasoned black beans that have been mashed and formed into a patty. The seasonings we like best are: chili powder, dried cilantro, a dash of smoky cumin, and cracked pepper. Adjust the spices to suit your personal tastes.
After forming the 'burger', simple cook in a non-stick pan using cooking spray. These cook in a wink, so don't take your eyes off the patty.
Healthy Tip #2 - Toss any variety of mushroom into salads, stir fries and side dishes whenever the mushroom will compliment the flavor of the dish.
Healthy Tip #3 - Sauteed mushrooms are quite delicious and quite simple to make. Simply cook them on the stove top using cooking spray. I like to slice mine. Extra low in calories, too!
Healthy Tip #4 - When choosing mushrooms at your local market, look at the stems. If the parasol is starting to pull away from the stem, do not purchase.
Healthy Tip #5 - Contrary to modern myth, the mushroom is not hugely absorbent. Therefore, we highly recommend washing your mushrooms before use rather than brushing them.
