I've always detested the words 'Fat' and 'Obese'.
They are too-often used as verbal
abuse these days. Overweight
Bill and Underweight Urma might offend Onlooker
Willie, yet Willie will be far more apt
to call Overweight Bill, "Fat-Ass"
rather than call Underweight Urma, "Skinny-Butt".
It's the terrible code-of-society
thing.
Musings
aside, many overweight individuals often
ask, "Why am I fat?" Here
are just a few things that might contribute
to weight gain - things that we may not
even associate with weight gain.
1.
Ann eats like a bird yet she continues to
gain weight. Why am I fat? she often
asks.
If
we look closely at Ann's daily diet, we
see that she's choosing foods that are high
in calories and fat - and it doesn't take
much of these foods to pack on weight. A
couple of jelly donuts for breakfast, a
giant burrito for lunch and a serving of
lasagna for dinner and three soft drinks
throughout the day can tally up to over
2,000 calories - depending upon the size
of the entrees and the recipes used.
2.
The old gene pool. People whose families
have a history of obesity can indeed be
thin - but they have to work much harder
than most to achieve and maintain a trimmer
size.
3.
Shorties tend to get hit hard when it comes
to weight gain. The smaller body requires
fewer calorie needs.
4.
Weight gain that is accumulated as we grow
older is often confused with a slow metabolism.
Fact is, as we grow older, our activity
level slowly fades, thus triggering slow
weight gain.
5.
Although we may do well to count our meal-time
calories, we often forget about calories
associated with candy jars, cookie jars,
a bite here, and a bite there; a beverage
here and a beverage there. Spontaneous
splurges can add up to big calories.
