College
can present new challenges which unfortunately
includes weight gain. Many freshmen
pile on weight as they enter a new chapter
in their life. Knowing what triggers
weight gain is the key to preventing weight
gain. Here are a few tips that might
help:
Tips
to Combat the Freshman Fifteen
-
Get every one of those necessary 40 winks!
We now know that individuals suffering
from sleep deprivation are more apt to pack
on pounds. Part of the reason is that
we are more prone to eat during our waking
hours. As a side note, if you're taking
Ambien and are packing on pounds, see your
doctor asap as you may be suffering from
a rare symptom from the drug.
-
Even good stress is stress, and stress triggers
weight gain.
-
So many choices these days, from class choices
to the foods we eat. And many college
students run a tight schedule and fast food
makes life faster, even weight gain.
The
Freshmen Fifteen syndrome isn't a given
and there are a lot of things you can do
to halt weight gain in it tracks before
it latches onto your life. Reach for
fresh fruit, fresh vegetables and even dry
cereal for snack time rather than packages
of cupcakes and cookies.
For
beverage time, grab spring water rather
than a high calorie soda. Steer clear
from the juices, however, because most are
packed in sugar and high calories. You're
better off being kissed by Mother Nature
than a plastic or glass container.
