Clogged Diet Engine

Dieters, start your Weight Loss Engines!

The body is much like a car engine. And what happens to a car engine when it sits? Generally, it takes more than two cranks to startle the engine to life while it sputters, coughs and chokes before it decides to fully come to life or to crawl back into the dead zone.

When the body receives minimal activity, it too has difficultly getting back into the swing of things. Here are just a few things associated with minimal activity:

- Due to inactivity the body burns energy (calories) slower than a body that is in great shape. The metabolism just ain't what it could be and if it could speak, it would beg the body to get to moving!

- While the body burns calories at a slower rate, the digestive system moves at a snail's pace. The individual may experience chronic constipation, digestive upset in the way of excess gas and heartburn.

- Amid minimal inactivity, muscles fade and are replaced by fat and/or skin sag.

- Because the heart is our most important muscle, heart functioning is also impacted by insufficient activity. Health risks increase for heart attack, circulatory disease and stroke.

- The lungs grow weak with minimal activity.

- Bone health suffers. If one bends a coat-hanger in a specific stance, eventually it will stay that way.

- When the individual is significantly inactive it doesn't take many calories to support the body's energy needs. When excess energy needs are exceeded, weight gain ensues - compounding health issues and increasing health risks.

If you're inactive - you know what to do. Find something that you enjoy doing and stick with it. Whether it's shooting hoops, shopping and walking around at the mall, hiking, or walking the dog - get up and move!

You could add years to your life and forego serious health risks by embracing a more active lifestyle. Time to rev-up your Diet Engine!
