Soliciting Weight Loss for Sex?

The airwaves are packed with commercials these days promoting weight loss as a ticket to great sex.  The methodology that drives many of these weight loss ads appears to hold a 'deeper' meaning than superficial sex - i.e. kissing, hugging.

The a-typical weight loss ad features former sex-deprived males who have beefed up their buff, thus achieving a sexual awaking due to weight loss.  Hello sleeping beauty.  And speaking of beauties, there are ads featuring bikini-clad women strolling across beaches and tropical scenery - displaying their reshaped forms as they shake out their long locks.

So do thinner thighs and leaner hips promote sexual swingers OR does weight loss boost self-confidence, making an individual feel more attractive, thus fulfilling several desires with one stone?

Some say that great sex is about a 97% mental flicker more than an actual physical need.  However, sex is an important and natural part of the invisible Health Pie and it does make good sense to lose pounds. Therefore, marrying sex and weight loss to produce an alluring ad solidifies the age-old saying, "Sex sells."  Whether weight loss translates to a more fulfilling sex life, there are far more important reasons to lose weight.

But again - sex is a hot topic (literally) and a natural draw for garnering interest in a product.  Tell an individual that losing weight can add years to their life and promote a healthier heart isn't nearly as attractive as, "Lose weight and you'll gain the keys to Nookie Kingdom!"  It's the old 'lose-gain' and everyone wins situation.

On that note, we feel there are some disturbing undertones in many of the Weight Loss Solicitation for Sex commercials:

circle21_blue.gif Weight Loss should not be perceived as a license for trolling for sex.  Sex is sex and love is love, but sex isn't love.  Love holds a high spot on the Totem Pole of Good Health.  On the other hand, casual sex can stir up a whirlwind of health woes - from STD's to emotional pain.

circle21_blue.gif Weight Loss will not solve an individual's sexual blockades.  Thin individuals experience sexual issues, too.

circle21_blue.gif Just because an individual is overweight doesn't mean they aren't, or that they can't experience a healthy sexual relationship.

circle21_blue.gif Although Weight Loss may deliver a more pleasing self image which in turn may create a chick or stud magnet, it's what you can't see that makes a relationship click.  Do you want a relationship?  Or just a quick roll on the bay?

The True Sexual Benefits From Weight Loss

circle21_blue.gif Weight Loss generates energy which may produce a more energetic sexual experience.

circle21_blue.gif Since sex is a good deal 'in the head' a slimmer partner may stimulate a stronger response.

circle21_blue.gif On the flip-side, if an individual tends to focus on their appearance, knowing their body is slimmer may actually impact their own sexual experience.

Summing It Up

Exploiting Weight Loss for sex isn't the best reason to lose weight, but obviously it is motivating many individuals to do just that - and that's a good thing!
