This American quote is
so applicable to dieting. When you look at dieting on the whole, it can be
overwhelming. Planning menus filled with healthy foods, developing or enhancing
a workout or activity routine, refocusing thoughts - placing the emphasis on
health needs rather than on 'taste wants' - and the extensive list goes on and on. And the more weight that an individual
has to lose, the more overwhelming the process may become. Let's try to erase
all those overwhelming thoughts, shall we?
Dieting inch by inch to get rid of inches inch by inch is a cinch! Here are some dieting tips to help keep your thoughts clear and simple when it comes to dieting and weight loss:
- Rather than thinking about the entire process of dieting (what you currently weigh, what you want to weigh, what you need to eat, how long you need to exercise, how long it's going to take to lose all the unwanted weight and so forth!) place the focus on TODAY.
- Weigh daily and keep a record of your weight loss accomplishments. Yeah, most diet gurus discourage a daily weigh-in, but it's a great tool to keep the dieter motivated. You'll also get a good idea of how your body process weight loss, particularly if you have a lot of weight to lose. You may drop zero pounds in three days, then have a sudden three-pound drop in weight. That's something to look forward to!
- Rather than fretting about snack time, keep on hand an assortment of fresh raw goodies that you like, as well as some low fat yogurt (for fruit dipping) and some low fat salad dressing (for veggie dipping).
- Take your weight loss journey one day at a time and know that you WILL reach those desired numbers on your weight scales.
