Dieting - Recipe for Cabbage Soup

Written by Thin Thin

Recipe for the Popular Cabbage Soup

The Cabbage Soup Diet is one of the longest running, popular fad diets.

Although the weight loss results may be temporary, we highly recommend the Cabbage Soup Diet recipe as a filler for dieters, as it truly is very filling and low in calorie content.

On the other hand, we highly discourage anyone truly considering going on the Cabbage Soup Diet.

Any weight that is lost is generally temporary, and over time, the Cabbage Soup Diet recipe tends to become boring. Weight loss is generally due to water loss rather than fat loss in the body.

Recipe for Cabbage Soup

To use as a low calorie filler for your diet plan, simply prepare the Cabbage Soup in advance and warm up as needed.

1 package of Lipton soup mix plus 2 bouillon cubes for flavoring - either chicken or beef flavored

1 stick of diced celery

1/2 head of green or purple cabbage

3 diced carrots

Any variety of bell peppers - you'll need two.

6 large green onions, or 1 large yellow, white or purple onion - diced

2 cans of tomatoes - either diced or whole

Cooking Spray

Salt, pepper, parsley, garlic powder to taste. Use any seasoning that you like to add flavor.

Spray large pot with cooking spray. Saute onions, peppers and carrots until tender. Add cabbage and about 12 cups of water. Toss in bullion cubes, soup mix and seasonings.

Cook until soup reaches desired tenderness add tomatoes. Soup can be reheated and contains very few calories - about 50 calories  per cup.
