Exercising Moderately for Weight LossDiet & Weight Loss Tips for Exercise & Burning Calories Exercise - as miserable as that word makes a lot of us, it's necessary for optimum health. But do you really need to sweat buckets of sweat, purchase a name-brand gym bag and spend three hours a day huffing and puffing? Let's talk about this... Remember when you were a little kid and you used to run all day until your tongue hung out? While you may have been having fun, you were in essence, exercising. Although kids are a straight line of energy, they tend to do things in increments. They may jump rope for five minutes, then run to climb a tree. But even kids have 'down' time, in which they rest and recuperate. That's what dolls, trains and car-cars are for. And of course, the all-important cardboard box. :-) Yes, kids are so smart when it comes to exercise. When they become bored, they automatically switch to their next choice of activity. And that's a lesson that we can all learn from. With this said, the key to enjoying exercise is to find something that you really love to do OR several things that you really love to do. Next, to reap optimum benefits from exercise, the body's heart rate must be elevated so that it's pumping strong, but not pumping out of your chest. Here are the basics: 1. Always get your doctor's approval before embarking on any type of exercise program. 2. Choose exercises that you will enjoy and stick with over the years. 3. Exercise at least every other day. Even walking every other day for 15-20 minutes at a brisk pace will render great health benefits as well as go hand in hand with a weight loss program.
