Fish Mercury Level WarningEnjoying more tuna these days? Due to mercury levels, the FDA recommends certain species of fish, as well as limiting weekly intake. Shark, swordfish, king mackerel, and tilefish contain high levels of a form of mercury called methyl mercury that may harm an unborn baby's developing nervous system - so beware to the pregnant individual. These species of fish tend to have a long life span, thus allowing more time to feed on smaller fish - in turn accumulating those higher levels of mercury.
